APOE4 question
How do I find and join an APOE4 clinical trial, even from abroad or as a 3/4 carrier?
You can look for trials even without symptoms: some prevention studies accept people with a positive blood test, and some newer trials take people with high blood pressure or diabetes who may be excluded elsewhere. Phoenix runs its own studies, such as a free cognition study with the University of Cambridge, and drug companies now recruit carriers through the Phoenix community. Trial plans change fast, so check a study's current status before you count on it.
This is not medical advice. Phoenix educates. Your doctor decides what is right for you.

What the research says
APOE4-specific evidence: limited
This is a how-to question, not a treatment question; research does show that people with two APOE4 copies develop Alzheimer's biology from about age 55, which is why researchers call for carrier-specific trials.
Key studies
Fortea 2024, Nat Med
Nearly all APOE4 homozygotes showed Alzheimer's biology, with biomarkers raised from about age 55; authors call for carrier-specific trials.

Alzheimer's Association advises using blood tests as pre-screeners for trial entry, confirmed by PET or spinal fluid.

Trial access can come through carrier communities.
“We're now a community that pharma companies come to for clinical trial recruitment.”
Dr. Kevin Tran, Founder of The Phoenix Community, Doctor of Pharmacy, APOE4/4 carrier

Track your biomarkers and be trial-ready.
“We need to track our biomarkers and be prepared to participate as informed advocates”

Some people with a positive blood test and no symptoms are seeking prevention trials.
“I have some of my patients that have positive blood tests but without cognitive impairment that are seeking to get on get on those trials.”
Dr. Grant Fraser, Board-certified anti-aging and family medicine physician, APOE4 carrier

This trial includes people who may not qualify for anti-amyloid drugs.
“the study includes populations with vascular risk factors. These may otherwise have not been eligible for anti-[amyloid] therapies.”
