APOE4 question
Is there real hope? Does prevention actually work for APOE4 carriers?
Yes, probably, though not as a guarantee. The 2024 Lancet Commission estimates that about 45% of dementia is linked to 14 changeable factors, and combined lifestyle programmes probably slow decline in thinking, with carriers doing as well as non-carriers. That 45% is a population figure, not a promise for one person, and no trial has yet counted fewer dementia cases in carriers.

What the research and Kevin's videos say
What the research says
Grade BAPOE4-specific evidence: limited
Combined lifestyle programmes probably slow decline in thinking slightly, carriers included, and lowering high blood pressure probably cuts the chance of memory problems; no trial has yet shown fewer dementia cases in APOE4 carriers.

About half of dementia risk comes from factors you can influence.
“Nearly 50% so half of Alzheimer's risk comes down to factors we can influence”
Dr. Kevin Tran, Founder of The Phoenix Community, Doctor of Pharmacy, APOE4/4 carrier

Target blood pressure, diabetes, hearing, smoking, weight, mood and activity.
“things like blood pressure, diabetes, hearing loss, smoking, obesity, depression, physical inactivity, social isolation and air pollution”
Dr. Kevin Tran, Founder of The Phoenix Community, Doctor of Pharmacy, APOE4/4 carrier

Protect hearing, mood and your head.
“Basically hearing loss, depression, traumatic brain injury, chronic stress. All of these reduce your brain's cognitive reserve.”
Dr. Kevin Tran, Founder of The Phoenix Community, Doctor of Pharmacy, APOE4/4 carrier

There is enough evidence that Alzheimer's is not a fixed fate.
“we can objectively say that we have enough evidence to say that that premise is false”
Dr. Grant Fraser, Board-certified anti-aging and family medicine physician, APOE4 carrier
