In its own words, the Alliance for Longevity Initiatives (A4LI) is “a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing legislation and policies aimed at increasing healthy human lifespan, with a focus on accelerating equitable access to next-generation therapies.” Dylan V. Livingston founded it in 2022.
In episode 26 (November 19, 2025), Brenda Eap, PhD, talks with Kevin Tran, the founder of Phoenix: a Doctor of Pharmacy who carries two copies of APOE4.
They cover what learning his APOE4 result changed, why finding the right participants holds back Alzheimer’s trials, and what carriers can work on now: exercise, sleep, stress and diet.

A4LI works on legislation and policy for aging research. Here is its work as A4LI describes it, with a link to each part.
More federal funding for research on aging, clear FDA standards for medicines that target aging biology, and a national healthy life expectancy goal. A4LI states that less than 1% of the NIH budget goes to aging biology research.
Six papers so far, from the Advanced Approval Pathway for Longevity Medicines (April 2023) to the Multi-Disease Therapeutic Designation (August 2026).
A bipartisan caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives. A4LI says it helped establish the caucus, and its caucus page lists the members.
A yearly summit in Washington, D.C. The third ran from June 29 to July 1, 2026, at Georgetown University’s Capitol Campus, with a congressional briefing on the last day.
H-SPAN, on longevity policy, and Scientist Spotlight, where Brenda Eap, PhD, interviews researchers who study aging.
A4LI names Alzheimer’s among the leading causes of death tied to aging. Policy shapes how research on aging gets funded and how new medicines get approved.
Phoenix works on what carriers can do today. Phoenix is the #1 APOE4 community optimizing their brain health: 750+ APOE4 carriers. Members keep their bloodwork, read against APOE4-specific targets, next to every supplement, medication and habit they change, so each retest shows what moved. You can find every APOE4-relevant clinical trial in the Clinical Trial Engine, read Phoenix research, see APOE4 Alzheimer’s risk by age, and read why Kevin built Phoenix.

A4LI describes itself as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit whose mission is to advance legislation and policies that aim to increase healthy human lifespan, with a focus on accelerating equitable access to next-generation therapies. Dylan V. Livingston founded it in 2022.
According to its website, A4LI publishes policy papers, works with the Longevity Science Caucus in the U.S. House, runs the yearly H-SPAN Summit in Washington, D.C., and hosts two podcasts: H-SPAN on longevity policy and Scientist Spotlight on aging researchers.
A4LI says aging is the greatest risk factor for chronic disease, names Alzheimer’s among the leading causes of death tied to aging, and states that less than 1% of the NIH budget goes to aging biology research. Its site is a clear place to read the policy side of aging research, in its own words.
