NCT07913243 · NOT YET RECRUITING

Small Monetary Incentives for Digital Cognitive Training Adherence in Community-Dwelling Older Adults

Sponsor: Xuanwu Hospital, Beijing

This study tests whether small daily cash rewards, from about 3 cents to 15 cents, help older adults stick with a 15-20 minute smartphone brain-training routine for 12 weeks. The main outcome is how many days people complete the training. It is not a drug trial, and the phase label does not apply. About 110 adults age 60 and up would take part.

You may qualify if

  • Aged ≥60 years, either sex.
  • Owns and routinely uses a smartphone.
  • Willing to sign written informed consent.

You're excluded if

  • Visual impairment that cannot be corrected to read training content on a smartphone screen.
  • Hearing impairment that cannot be corrected to hear prompts from the training app.
  • Severe upper-limb dysfunction preventing stable holding or operation of a smartphone.
  • Unable to independently complete cognitive training after on-site instruction by researchers.
  • Plans to move away from the local area or be away for a long period within the next 14 weeks, which may interrupt study participation.
  • Concurrent participation in another cognitive intervention study.
