NCT06774261 · Phase 1 · NOT YET RECRUITING

Phenserine on the Alzheimer's Treatment Horizon, Study 1

This trial is testing phenserine, an older drug that was shelved before reaching approval, against donepezil (Aricept), a standard Alzheimer's medication. Researchers want to know whether phenserine is safe at escalating doses and whether it affects certain biological markers tied to cell death differently than donepezil does. It is a Phase 1 trial, meaning the primary focus is still on safety and tolerability in humans, not on proving the drug works.
