NCT02105844 · ACTIVE NOT RECRUITING

Swiss Atrial Fibrillation Cohort Study

This is an observational study, not a treatment test. Researchers in Switzerland are following about 2,600 older adults with atrial fibrillation, an irregular heartbeat. Each year they check heart rhythm, memory and thinking, and quality of life. Brain MRI and blood tests happen at the start and after two years. The goal is to understand brain changes and cognitive decline.

You may qualify if

  • atrial fibrillation documented within the last 24 months
  • age >=45 years

You're excluded if

  • acute illness
  • inability to provide informed consent
  • Only short episodes of reversible forms of atrial fibrillation

The sponsor's own eligibility wording, lightly reformatted. The study team makes the final eligibility decision — worth discussing with your doctor.
